Your Nursery Reimagined
When my older daughter Aria transitioned into her “big girl’s” room, we welcomed our newborn son Avi into our world.
Aria’s old nursery needed a refresh. Luckily when we designed her room, we used neutral tones throughout including her crib, glider, and wall paint. So, the new design was an easy swap to decorate for the new sibling on the way.
My design idea was to create a space that had a California vibe. I incorporated natural elements. I used wood to bring in some warmness into the room. I layered in different textures such as this cute woven changing basket from Etsy, Burlap light fixture, and jute baskets to store his toys in.

Select a Theme What I love about this room is the vintage surfer themed feature wall. I used decals from Urbanwalls. They are so quick and easy to apply! And they instantly gives your wall a face lift. When he grows-up and get tired of them the decals are easy to remove. |
Statement Piece
One of my best tips for picking a perfect statement piece, especially one that will grow with the child, is to go with a quality piece. Statement pieces are a focal point in the room so it’s worth spending that little bit more for a quality piece with a real wow factor. I found a mini-surfboard on Esty, that I hand painted myself which incorporated touch of black that you see through out the room. |
Pro tip: Invest in the bigger ticket items such as the crib and glider; these items will be used day-in and day out. And choose décor that isn’t Kichi and can transit with the child.
