Top Design Trends You Will See Everywhere in 2023
At first, “interior design trends” can feel like an oxymoronic term. Décor doesn’t tend to undergo seasonal changes or flash-in-the-pan fads—furniture, textiles, art, and wall coverings are too cumbersome, too expensive, too enduring to update frequently. When you design a room, as the saying goes, you need to learn to live with it. For a long time.
If there’s anything we’ve learned from trend forecasters, the best way you can keep your space feeling fresh is by planning ahead. We recently connected with our principle designer, Anita Lall, at the Olve Studio to discuss what’s coming in 2023 in terms of interior design—and she gave us a preview of trends she's excited for.

Curves
You’ve seen it popping up in architectural details in residential designs such as: curves archways or windows, in millwork details, kitchen cabinets or kitchen islands. Look out for more furniture with curves backs. Why are we love this trend. Curve details just softens the space and also creates a cozy atmosphere. |
Textured Walls
From good old Lime Wash, Roman Clay to the new Micro-cement. Textured walls are coming back but with a modern twist. Suppliers are now making these products in really beautiful neutral tones. Great for feature walls, fireplaces, or even in your bathroom. These finishes add a touch of lux when paired with warm woods. |
Black Accents
Although many have predicted a return to colour in 2023, we are also seeing more spaces with black accents. Whether it’s a feature wall, light fixture, or hardware…black colour is design choice that offers a contrast, creating a modern and effortlessly chic look that can elevate any space. |
At the OLVE, we independently select and write about stuff we love and think you'll like too. We are not affiliated nor do we have an advertising partnerships with the brands we may feature.
