Time to Style Your Wall! Here are some Wallpaper Ideas!
Ah wallpaper – you either love it or hate it! The Olve Design Studio is here to break down the misconceptions of wallpaper. Wallpaper has come a long way, with technology there are so many options, from a full mural wall to the traditional patterned paper and there are many fun ways to apply it in your home. Another bonus with wallpaper these days is that they are often easy to remove if you get tired of it.
If you are still worried about wallpaper, we have some expert tips to ease you into it.
1.Use Wallpaper as Focal Point
In Larger rooms we love installing wallpaper on one wall to create a feature wall to act as a focal point for some drama or brightness (depending on the print you choose). It anchors the room and brings a sense of comfort. Wallpaper is also great for smaller walls to add character into a space, we love applying them on small areas where you can place a desk or accent chair in front. Another clever use, is wallpapering alcoves to outline different shapes and add a little punch to the overall space.
2. Dress up your Powder room
Powder Rooms and wallpaper are a match made in heaven. Adding wallpaper to a small space like the powder room creates impact. This is a safe space to step out of your comfort zone and go for a funky pattern or go for something that is colourful. Make sure to balance this with a more neutral toned vanity and floor tiles.
3. Take your ceiling to new height
If you are a bit of a risk taker and have taller ceilings – adding wallpaper to the ceiling is one way to create a sense of glam and beauty into the space. Wallpapering the ceiling is great for spaces like the dining room where it can add that wow factor. A kids room is another space where you can leverage the use of wallpaper to make the room more fun and playful – this is a space you can definitely feel free to choose a wallpaper that is more colourful and really stands out.
TIP - If you want to try applying wallpaper on the ceiling but afraid of the commitment, start small and try it in the powder room.
Also, be sure that your ceiling is viable for wallpaper. The ceiling must be smooth and free of cracks.
4. Laundry room Beauty
Have you ever considered using wallpaper instead of tile for a backsplash in the laundry room? This will help add character and liven up a space that is not always fun to be in (I mean is there ever an end to laundry!?). Consider adding wallpaper to bring a bit of colour that compliments the existing cabinetry and compliments the floor tile.
There are so many ways you can utilize wallpaper – it can elevate a room in so many ways and really, the possibilities are endless. Check out our usual go to wallpaper companies that we love to shop at!
