Glim n Glo
Introducing Sienna Pedatella who with her mom, hand crafts luxurious candles
During Covid/lockdown this 15 year old found a hobby to fill in her time. What started as a hobby grew in a mini side hustle for Sienna Pedatella. She co-founded, Glim n Glo with her mom Marisa – which are beautifully hand-crafted candles they make from scratch at home. We caught up with this inspiring teen, who took the leap and grab onto this opportunity. |
Tell us what you do? And how you came about your side hustle(s)?
I came across a lot of candle making posts on tiktok and i fell in love with the designs and the satisfaction of the demolding videos. I thought to myself wow this seems like a pretty cool hobby while I have nothing to do at home!
What about your work brings you true joy?
I love the appreciation we get from customers and all the recognition. I also love experimenting with new molds and colours.
What has been your most valuable learnings?
To focus on the present and not the future or “what if’s” because those are out of your control.
If you could learn to do anything, what would that be? I would love to learn to play the Electric guitar. I have been learning how to play the acoustic guitar during our stay at home and love it. If you could be any fictional character, who would it be and why? The character kat from the movie 10 things i hate about you. I think she’s so cool! she plays an electric guitar, studies music, she is in a band and dating patrick verona (played by heath ledger) and she’s a feminist. |
Can you describe an experience/incident that happened that made you a stronger person?
Losing my dad to cancer when I was 5 years old. It was and still is one of the hardest things to overcome.
If you could give your past self any advice, what would it be?
To stop worrying about things that won’t matter in a few years (still advice to myself today).
