Finding the perfect gift for family and friends can be quite challenging and stressful especially around the holidays. Not only are you trying to find something they’ll like but more importantly, you want it to be meaningful and unique ... and hope it won’t be exchanged for store credit (fingers crossed).
While many of us will be spending more time at home and celebrating a bit differently this year, consider adding a personalized touch with your gifts to make your loved ones feel extra special.
Here are a few ways you can do this
While many of us will be spending more time at home and celebrating a bit differently this year, consider adding a personalized touch with your gifts to make your loved ones feel extra special.
Here are a few ways you can do this
- Make the gift by hand. Thanks to the internet and social media, from gathering inspiration to finding step by step tutorials, DIY has never been easier (this also includes cooking some of their favourite dishes). A quick search online will help you find popular hand crafted gifts and delicious recipes. Don’t have time to create the entire gift? Try making a holiday card with a written heartfelt message – even a gift card will feel more personal. Plus, making your own gifts will bring satisfaction that a store bought product just can’t compare.
- Give the gift of memories. Whether it’s a funny movie that you both love or an amazing trip you have taken together, centering your gifts around memorable moments will always remind them of the fun times. Making your loved ones a scrapbook is a great way of preserving these memories and it’ll never go out of style. Don’t fret if you’re not crafty, you can easily find companies online to create your unique gift like turning a cherished photo into a puzzle.
- Connect your favourites with their hobbies. In picking out a gift, we often consider the latest products based on the person’s interests. Take this one step further by giving them something you love from their list of hobbies. For example, if your friend likes to read, give them a book from your must read list. This is a great way to personalize a gift for your loved ones while including a little bit of yourself.
- Create a custom experience – Personalization doesn’t necessarily mean to adding names or initials to the item, it’s your thought and effort in tailoring the gift that truly makes it special. Consider filling a basket of goodies with a theme like spa day, an at home music festival, items to create a date night and more - these are all ways to help them experience something you know they’ll enjoy.
- Pick something you cherish. Great gifts don’t always have to be new gifts. In fact, picking something that you used to love gives the gift a unique backstory and an opportunity to continue living out its purpose (it’s also great for the environment!). Some gifting ideas could include your favourite books, childhood board games, a plant from your collection or even that fancy bottle of wine you’ve holding onto for a special occasion.
