Learning how to meditate – feels simple enough. It’s finding a quiet place, sitting in silence and breathing…right?
Wrong!
Home isn't exactly the quietest place on earth at the moment – you're feeling stressed, trying to balance work, manage a home, and if you have kids, dealing with after school actvitites. With all these factors in mind, you've decided that you want to meditate to help reduce the daily stress. But where to begin? How do you even get started? How do you get your mind to stop racing and stay in the present moment?
So we did a little research and stumbled upon this great site called Mindful which provides you with a guidebook on the different styles of mediation, and the various benefits of each practice. Plus they provide free guided audio practices that help you learn how to meditate in a way that works for you.
What we love about Mindful is that the tips aren’t aimed at helping you to become an expert … they help you get started and keep you going. You don’t have to implement them all at once — but go head and try a few!
Then come back and try again!
What we love about meditation?
Its simple, its one of the best tools to counter the brain’s negativity bias, it helps release accumulated stress, fosters positive experiences and intentions, and you can enjoy the peace of present moment awareness.
And bonus, you don't need extra gear or an expensive membership to do it.
Regular meditation practice can produce tangible benefits for mental and physical health, including:
Decrease blood pressure and hypertension
Lower cholesterol levels
Reduce production of “stress hormones,” including cortisol and adrenaline
More efficient oxygen use by the body
Increased production of the anti-aging hormone DHEA
Improved immune function
Decreased anxiety, depression, and insomnia
