My Interview with My Daughter
It's been two months since school resumed after being closed since March Break. It's been quite the adjustment for everyone getting used to the new normal. I decided to chat with my daughter about what it has been like for her – what she has been feeling since being back. How old are you and what grade are you in?

What do you struggle with at school?
What is your favourite part of the day?
After we chatted, we also highlighted some of the good things that have come from this. For instance, I am home – so they can be home earlier from school. We aren't rushing to a million activities all the time. We often talk about the places we will travel next – it gives us something to look forward to. We have been spending more time together as a family – and appreciating the little things.
Once things do get back to normal – remind yourself to think about what parts of that "normal" you want to return to, and what parts of the new normal you want to hold on to.
- We have to stay socially distanced and we can't play with our friends like we used to. I find that hard. Even when we play tag – we changed it and now play a game where we point at each other with our eyes closed and then you have to do a task when you are picked – like a cartwheel. It's different.
What is your favourite part of the day?
- Lunch and recess are the best. We can talk to each other at least because during class we are masked and it is harder to.
- Nothing!
- Seeing my friends when I want to, not wearing masks, not having to be socially distanced, hugging and travelling.
- Can't wait til things go back to normal. There are some good things, like my mom being at home for work – so we get to spend more time together – but I miss being able to do things without worrying. COVID is a scary thing.
