Decorate in the form of a triangle
First start with something large – such as a mirror or a painting in the center of the fireplace – this will serve as an anchor for the rest of your design. Take into account your ceiling height, ensure you take full advantage of the whole space above the mantle to create that illusion of height.
On either side of the larger piece, place smaller objects on either side and it does not have to be symmetrical. You could use various sized candle sticks, foliage inside a tall skinny vase and a short and wide one. Or simply stack some books on one side opposite a couple of differently sized frames.
Another element we love to bring into everything we do – is to bring a little bit of greenery to add a sense of calm and Zen into the space. To ensure a cohesiveness to the décor, try to stick with a consistent colour palette that works in the overall space of the fireplace.
