Home with Sil x DIY Wood Pedestals
Wood pedestals have been all the rage in home décor recently. While they’re simple styling pieces that helps to elevate that #shelfie game, they’re also very handy storage solutions. I created 3 different wood pedestals for 3 different purposes, but the method to make them is all the same and only requires 3 different pieces of wood!
Here we go.
Supplies + Tool
- ¾” Plywood, or whatever thickness you want the base of the wood pedestal to be
- 1” x 1” plywood, or whatever thickness you want the legs to be
- Wood Glue
- Circular Saw or Table Saw
- Miter Saw or Circular Saw
- 16 Gauge Brad Nailer
- Orbital Sander
- Wood stain & sealer
- Wood putty
- Step 1 // Plan and measure - Plan out the size you want for the base of the pedestal and the legs. Note: If you want to create a tray as the base, add on the side pieces to the base.
- Step 2 // Cut your plywood to size
- Step 3 // Sand down your pieces using the orbital sander and a medium grit (120) sandpaper
- Step 4 // Use wood glue and a nail gun to secure the legs
- Step 5 (Optional) // Use some wood filler to fill in some of the holes made from the nail gun. If you choose to do this step, make sure to sand it down once it’s dried so that you have a smooth surface to stain/paint.
- Step 6 // Choose your stain or paint for your new wood pedestal!
