How to make your home more Zen
Let’s face it. Working from home makes me want to change/refresh a few things around the house. Before COVID, coming home from a long day of work was an amazing feeling, because home was my sanctuary. I looked forward to taking off my bra, pour a glass a wine, and just veg on the couch with a good book. Now I don’t get the same feeling – work has become home...home has become work. I need that Zen feeling back.

Add Calming Textures A simple way to bring in Zen into a space (bedroom, living or family room) is to add soft textured cushions. Choose cushions that have muted or unstated tones. Look for natural fabrics, cotton, silk or wool. We love these jacquard weaved cotton cushions from at h&m home. These cushions can add a layer of softness to any couch. Also consider adding some softness under your feet by adding a soft rug. Choose light shades such as white, light grey, ivory, cream |

Soft Lighting to set the Mood Incorporate soft lighting by simply adding dimmers to set the mood and create a relaxing atmosphere. Dimmers are a must in the bedroom - adjust the lighting to a low setting to help whine down before bed. Scented candles are another great way to add layers of soft lighting into any room. We love scented candles from Sand + Fog – they have wide range of scented candles that come in a variety of glass jars and ornate tins. Or visit HomeSense they usually have a unique section of candles to choose from. |

Unclutter your Space and your Mind Believe it or not, a unclutter spaces helps eases the mind, plus this simple trick makes the space feel open and airy. Invest in some storage baskets to organize and stow away stuff. Create storage in empty corners to keep everything neat and tidy. Get rid of stuff that is not needed anymore. The Sound of Music Think about what relaxes you. Whether it’s cozying up to a book, or nice cup of tea. Ensure the space is a spot where you can enjoy whatever help makes you unwind. What relaxes me is Music! So I have my google home set up in the space I like to unwine. I can easily ask google to play a “chill” playlist. I also have a vinyl record player setup if want to go old school with the tunes. |
