Brilliant Black Designers
Interior design plays a significant role in our everyday lives. How we create and shape the environments we live in can impact the way we work, wind down and begin each morning, ready to navigate the day. So it isn't surprising to learn that interior designers play an important role when it comes to curating our personal spaces.
While the world of interior design is inspiring, it is also very competitive — and unfortunately it can often lack diversity. Many BIPOC interior designers are alloverlooked, despite their significant accomplishments in the field.
We feel it is important to acknowledge the incredible works we admire so, we've pulled together our absolute must follows. These Black designers have not only inspired us with their hustle and and beautiful designs, but also because of their leadership in this space.

Corey Damen Jenkins We love his story. He landed his first project after going door-to-door in Michigan during the 2009 recession. Now, the interior designer specializes in designing rooms for everyday living — his work is full of vivid colors and playful patterns. In our opinion, he is a wizard that can bring classic pieces into the present with refined elegance and modernity We highly recommend taking his interior design class on Master class . He can show you how to make bold and functional designs on any budget - from mood boards to space planning. |
Tavia Forbes and Monet Masters Tavia Forbes and Monet Masters are an Atlanta-based design duo who met when their paths overlapped on a project years ago. Both notable designers in their own right, they realized something unique in each other - they shared an affinity for bold, eclectic designs, infused with each client’s unique fingerprint. We love how these ladies make any room pop with carefully thought out statement pieces while bringing their individual aesthetics style to any space they design. |
Mikel Welch Mikel Welch, is a New York-based interior designer and television host. On camera, Mikel shows viewers tips and tricks for renovating homes, designing sophisticated spaces, and creating luxury looks at affordable prices. We love his primitive design aesthetic and how he uses natural unfinished textures to his modern and edgy designs. His designs and creativity often inspires our own ideas. |
