Which Beauty Products are worth the Splurge On

Financial planning applies to makeup too.  For many of us, shopping online at Sephora can lead you down a rabbit hole. Admittedly, sometimes your bank account or credit card can’t justify high-end beauty spending.

We get it!If you need to streamline your spending, some makeup might not be worth the sacrifice while others might be. Here are our suggestions on when to splurge and when to save.

Foundation/Concealer

If there is one item that every makeup artist deemed as splurge-worthy, it was foundation and concealer with a resounding yes. High quality foundations make your skin look smoother, cover dark spots better, and diminish wrinkles and fine line, while also incorporating the skin-care benefits you desire.

SPLURGE
Eyeshadow

Here's where you want to spend your money. A great eyeshadow tends to be made with better pigments and  will last longer and blend better.

SPLURGE
Mascara

There are plenty of drugstore options that produce bombshell mascara formulas—and for half the price. You don't need to be spending big money on it. Brands like Maybelline Lash Discovery or L’Oréal Paris Double Extend Beauty Tubes Lengthening Mascara are great options.

SAVE
Lipstick/Lip glosses

There are so many new colors coming out all the time that it's *most* worth it to spend on a few classic/favorite shades. Otherwise, if you're looking for a  lip gloss...find it from your local drugstore.

SPLURGE/ SAVE
Bronzer/Blush

Bronzers and blushes are less about the price tag and more about the formula quality.  But if you use them frequently, luxury powders tend to be softer and more finely-milled, so they blend seamlessly and never look cakey. It may be worth the investment.

SPLURGE
Makeup brushes

Cheap makeup brushes will often shed its bristles on your face, leaving stray hairs that may ruin the foundation you just perfectly applied. So investing in brushes from brands like M.A.C., Too faced or Trate is the best idea.
